> Broad practice encompassing all aspects of hand and wrist surgery, with a specific interest in wrist injuries and the complications of injury to the hand and wrist.
> Over twenty years’ experience treating patients with hand and wrist problems, both traumatic and elective. His current practice includes the outpatient treatment of Dupuytren’s disease with both needle fasciotomy and Collagenase injection.
> Has played a huge role in the London Hand and Wrist Unit since its inception in 1995. The Unit prides itself on the close integration of surgeons and hand therapists to ensure patients a smooth path through treatment. His NHS practice is at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, where he is the lead clinician for the regional Hand Surgery Service.
> Has been involved in the teaching and training of hand surgeons for many years, and he’s currently the Chair of Examiners for the BSSH/University of Manchester Hand Diploma. He is a regular member of faculty on AO hand and wrist courses, both nationally and internationally, and has also chaired some of these courses. He is often invited to lecture on hand and wrist surgery in the UK and abroad.
> Member of the British Society of the Hand (BSSH) for several years and now its serving President. He has also served as a Council member, Honorary Secretary and representative of the Society to the European and International Federations of Hand Surgery.
> Elected as President of the BSSH for 2016. This honour reflects Mr Eckersley’s expertise and contribution to the field of hand and wrist surgery over the course of his distinguished career.
> As one of the leading hand and wrist surgeons in the country, Mr Eckersley has treated many professional athletes, including British and international stars from a wide range of sports.
